Breast Augmentation with Implants or Fat Transfer

Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure intended to increase breast volume and refine breast shape. The technique and implant selection are individualised after assessment of each woman’s anatomy, needs and expectations.

Breast Augmentation with Implants and Fat Transfer

Breast implants and fat transfer are the two methods most commonly used. Before surgery, detailed information is provided about the available options, the procedure and the postoperative course. Breast implants are medical devices, and their selection follows an assessment of their characteristics, indications and possible risks. Warranty terms are determined by the manufacturer.

Depending on the anatomy and surgical plan, an implant may be placed partly beneath the pectoral muscle (dual plane) or beneath the muscle fascia (subfascial).

Implant size is selected according to the person’s preferences and anatomy, including chest diameter, nipple position and existing breast volume. The incision may be placed around the areola in selected cases of mild ptosis or in the inframammary fold.

The procedure may increase fullness in the décolletage and upper pole of the breast, according to the selected technique and anatomy.

Recovery After Breast Augmentation

Surgery takes approximately 1.5–2 hours under general anaesthesia. Returning to work may be possible after approximately one week, while exercise is usually resumed 4–6 weeks after surgery, according to the surgeon’s instructions.

An overnight stay at the clinic may be recommended for monitoring and removal of drains the following day.

For me, Dr. Moutsoudis is the best plastic surgeon. We went through a procedure together, and from the beginning he told me that recovery would be difficult, while other doctors do not say these things. He was completely honest and informative from the first appointment to the last. Even after the procedure, he came to see me three times at the clinic within 12 hours, and to this day, 18 days after the procedure, he shows concern almost daily about the healing process. His phone is always on, and he answers any question I have immediately, even at weekends. He has been by my side from the first moment to the last. Above all, the doctor is a very good person and an excellent doctor!! His results speak for themselves! Of course, I could not fail to mention his impeccably trained team: all excellent professionals, very caring, knowledgeable, kind and principled! My experience at Dr. Moutsoudis’s clinic will remain unforgettable! I am grateful and recommend him without reservation!

I have no words for the doctor. Five stars are far too few. I visited the clinic a short while ago, and he explained everything to me with great patience. Very approachable and, above all, a wonderful human being!!! And the result was fantastic!!!! By far the best plastic surgeon!!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is breast augmentation?
Breast augmentation is surgery intended to increase breast volume and refine breast shape. The plan is individualised according to anatomy, needs and expectations.
Which methods are used for breast augmentation?
The two principal methods are silicone implants and fat transfer. Selection is based on anatomy, individual needs and the person’s preferences.
How are silicone implants assessed?
The silicone implants used are certified medical devices. Their characteristics, possible risks and manufacturer warranty terms are discussed during the medical assessment. Breastfeeding and mammography considerations are also reviewed individually.
Where are implants placed?
Implants may be placed partly beneath the pectoral muscle (dual plane) or beneath the muscle fascia (subfascial), depending on skin characteristics and anatomy.
Does breast augmentation leave scars?
The scar is generally positioned in the inframammary fold or, in selected cases of mild ptosis, around the areola. Scars usually become less noticeable over time.
What should I expect during recovery?
Surgery takes approximately 1.5–2 hours under general anaesthesia. Returning to everyday activities may be possible within about seven days, while strenuous exercise is usually resumed after 4–6 weeks, according to the surgeon’s advice.
How long do breast-augmentation results last?
Results may be long-lasting, but implants and breast tissue require ongoing clinical monitoring. Revision or replacement may be considered if a complication occurs or the person’s anatomy or preferences change.
Can breast augmentation be combined with a breast lift?
Yes. In cases of breast ptosis, such as after pregnancy or weight loss, augmentation may be combined with mastopexy to address breast volume, shape and position.
Are there risks or complications?
As with any operation, possible risks include haematoma, capsular contracture and infection. These are discussed during assessment, together with the measures used for preparation and postoperative care.
